the black code was introduced in louisiana in 1724, based on earlier coded developed in French.

Positive Code from french

1 code: Owners of enslaved persons had to baptize enslaved persons in the Christian faith.

2 code: Owners of enslaved persons had to give them Sundays off for worship

3 code : Owners of enslaved persons were not allowed to separate families .

4 code : Enslaved persons were not allowed to marry a white person.

Negative code from french

1 code : A child born of slave parents becomes a slave in turn

2 code : Slaves had to be branded

3 code : They must not carry weapons, except for hunting purposes and with the permission of their master

4 code : Slaves belonging to different masters must not congregate at any time under any circumstances

Definition of black code

The Black Codes are a set of American laws, passed by the States or at the local level, which were intended to limit the fundamental rights and the civil rights of Black people. Originally, the constitution of the United States validated slavery.

the black code also helped the slaves to rest on Sundays but they dedicated their Sundays to prayer
