HOW IT WORKS

WHY INTERNATIONAL YEAR ONE?

If you are an International Foundation Year student that has just missed out on achieving the progression requirements for your chosen undergraduate degree, you may be able to join an International Year One programme. This course gives you the opportunity to study the first year of your undergraduate degree, while continuing to receive the support and study opportunities of the International Study Centre. On completion of this programme, you will progress to the second year of an undergraduate degree at the partner university. Approval to this course is subject to meeting entry requirements and visa time limits.

You may decide that applying to study online for a year would be most suitable for you. This could be because of personal reasons (e.g. not wanting to live in the UK yet) or visa related reasons (e.g. you have exhausted the number of pre-degree level visas you can have).

Not all ISCs would accept a repeating student, including University of Leeds. All applications would be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

If you have not met your progression requirements but have passed their course.​ Students who have an overall IELTS of 6.0 with 5.5 in all components, or AES equivalent (50 overall,40 in all sub skills)

Where you could study is based on the grades that you receive. Most higher ranking universities would require similar progression requirements to the University of Leeds. You can use your AES grades to gain access to an alternative university but it is advisable you have the minimum IELTS scores listed above. For more information about the different universities, apply to the Extended Progression Support team.

Please note: not all universities accept Study Group programmes. The Extended Progression Support team will be able to assist you.
