The curriculum for elementary focuses strongly on reading, writing, and math. It's very important for a teacher to figure the best way to teach these topics successfully.
Often by the second or third-grade, teachers begin to spezialize their instruction, but this can cause logistical and coordination problems and means less time spent with your students, but it can assist in reduced planning and preparation time.
In the tables above (First-Grade Schedule & Third-Grade schedule), there are two important patterns.
1. There's a heavy focus on the basic skills of reading, writing, and math.
2. The more time spent on reading and math meant less time for social studies, music, art, and physical education.
