Tensions
The rising tensions began when the US sent a surveillance plane, U-2, over Cuba and found the soviet union with missiles, tents, and target zones. It was discovered that there were missiles pointed at the US in their very own Cuba. President Kennedy was not okay with this and argued with Khrushchev, Soviet Premier. The tensions of a nuclear war and the chance of both countries firing the missiles rose and affected civilians of both nations.
Threat
There was a lot of tension between the US and the Soviet Union because they were fighting indirectly. Both sides stocked up on their nuclear weapons in an attempt to make their country stronger and more prepared if the other side were to attack. However, after seeing the atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, both countries feared the devastating results, which could destroy both countries.
