CLARITY

The reader is able to understand the words expressed and the sentence structure. It is essential to communicate ideas and information accurately and clearly to the readers, and clarity is a crucial element of academic writing. This is achieved by using clear and concise language, organizing your ideas logically, and providing sufficient context and background information to help readers understand your arguments and conclusions.

UNITY

It refers to the idea that all parts of a piece of writing should work together to achieve the same goal. The reader can easily follow the flow of ideas and understand the purpose of the work. In order to achieve unity, each sentence and paragraph should be related to the main idea or thesis statement of the work. Transitions between sentences and paragraphs should also be used to create a smooth flow of ideas and to connect each part of the writing to the next.

COHESION

Refers to the use of various linguistic devices and techniques that help to connect the different parts of a composition and guide the reader through the text. This helps to avoid confusion and ensures that the reader is able to understand and remember the main points of the text. Cohesive writing can be achieved through the use of a range of techniques, such as the use of transitional words and phrases, repetition, parallelism, and consistent point of view. By using these techniques, writers can create a sense of flow and continuity within the text, which helps to make it more coherent and easier to follow.

COHERENCE

Coherence refers to the logical and meaningful connections between words, phrases, and paragraphs in a piece of writing. It is the quality that makes a text easy to understand and follow. Writers need to pay close attention to the connections between their ideas and use appropriate devices to ensure that their writing is coherent and easy to understand. In order to achieve coherence in writing, writers need to use various devices that link concepts throughout the text. These devices include transitional words and phrases, topic sentences, clear pronoun references, consistent verb tenses, and parallel structure, among others.
