School Context

IES Jaume I is a high school located in Salou with approximately 1200 students, offering ESO, Baccalaureate, and Vocational Training programs. Each ESO course consists of 5 groups of 25-30 students per class. One of the characteristics of the students at this school is their diverse background, as they come from many different countries, which brings a lot of cultural diversity. The GEP project is implemented in almost all ESO and Baccalaureate courses in different subjects.

How do we implement GEP?

These activities have been designed to be implemented in 1st of ESO. In physical education, we incorporate the English language in the first part of the class, always in every session for about 15-20 minutes.

Reflection after the implementation

Whenever I finish an activity, I always come to the same conclusion: if I were to implement it again, I would always do some things differently.Next time I must improve to insist more on using English throughout the activity, the pronunciation of words and the roles of the group. However, weighing the positives and negatives aspects, I am satisfied with the results achieved with the students, especially because they can organize and work in groups using English language in a different context and subject. The things I have learned during the GEP course have helped me become more aware of what and how to teach, and to improve the way to communicate it to the students.
