TNK is a thrombolytic
Replacing tPA for Ischemic Strokes at UCI
TNK is administered as a single dose bolus
Location: Pyxis main med room
Dosing & Administration
- Obtain patient weight
- Calculate dose
- Use a 5 mL syringe to draw up calculated dose
- Complete Independent Double Check
- Administer over 5 seconds
- Flush line before and after administration with normal saline
Dosing: 0.25 mg/kg Concentration: 5mg/1mL Max dose: 25 mg (5mL)
Monitoring & Assessments
Same as tPA
Signs & symptoms to watch for
- Angioedema, bleeding, neuro changes
Neuro assessment frequency
- Every 15 min x 2 hrs
- Every 30 min x 6 hrs
- Every hour x 16 hrs
