Our students often require even basic needs met

Given the socioeconomic structure for a majority of our students, even the most basic needs can be met in our classroom. We will have snacks on hand, water on occasion, and [appropriate] hugs when needed (Marzano, 2021).

HOW?? Teach Like A . . . P-I-R-A-T-E!

Teaching is an art form (Burgess, 2012)!

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Spotting the needs

Motivating students is a culmination of several contributing factors. The classroom expectations are clear, maintained, and modeled. There is strength in groups. Good things happen when good behavior happens. But, teenagers long to feel valued and important (Marzano, et al., 2017)

Progressive Discipline

We use a "set of [four] steps that build in severity and intensity with each step." We work to keep students in school by implementing lower level consequencess and interventions. Beyond this level, the next level requires administrative response strategies, intervention and consequence (Behavior Learning Guide, 2022)
