Who was Dmitri Mendeleev?

Dmitri Mendeleev was born in 1834 in Siberia in Russia. His father was a teacher and when Dimitri was 16, he attended the Saint Petersburg’s Main Pedagogical Institute. Dimitri focused on chemistry and his passion for chemistry led him to write a 500 page textbook about Organic Chemistry in 60 days when he was only 27 years old! In 1869, Mendeleev began to consider ways to make the study of elements more efficient and after writing the 65 known elements on notecards, he discovered a way to organize them on what we now know as the Periodic Table of Elements.
