His first performance in front of an audience took place at the age of seven, at the Veo Veo music festival of the Teresa Rabal Foundation, obtaining a Special Mention from the jury in the regional competition of Andalusia. Two years later, he was recognized in the national competition of this festival with the National Revelation award. When he was nine years old, he made his television debut in the program Menuda noche, where for four years he performed songs by Nino Bravo, Rocío Dúrcal, Alejandro Sanz, Luis Miguel, Raphael, Camilo Sesto, Juan Luis Guerra, David Bisbal, Miguel Gallardo, Sandro Giacobbe, among other artists. In this program, as well as in others on Canal Sur, she sang with David Bustamante, Raphael, Rosa López, David DeMaría, Francisco, Melody, Rocío Cortés and other singers. At the age of ten, he was signed by EMI Music Spain. With this record label, he released in December 2009 his first studio album of the same name. Abraham Mateo, produced by Jacobo Calderón, includes unreleased ballads such as "Destronado", "Vuelve conmigo" and "Un amor como los de antes", a ranchera titled "Lágrimas de amor", covers of songs by Alejandro Sanz, Luis Fonsi, Laura Pausini and Raphael, as well as a Spanish version of "Without you", performed as a duet with French singer Caroline Costa. This album led him to appear on important television programs in Spain and to tour several regions of the Iberian country for promotional purposes. In the following years, Mateo continued performing versions of songs in Spanish, English and Italian, and uploading videos edited by himself to his YouTube account. His versions of "I Surrender" by Celine Dion, "Adagio" by Lara Fabian, "El jardín prohibido" by Sandro Giacobbe, "I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston, "Come Home" by One Republic and performed in duet with American singer Sabrina Carpenter, "Te voy a amar" by Axel Fernando, and "¿Qué hago yo?" by Ha*Ash and performed in duet with his brother Tony Mateo were very successful on the YouTube platform, with hundreds of thousands of views. In December 2011, she recorded her first song of her own, "Desde que te fuiste", a pop-dance song with infectious rhythms, on iTunes. 2012-14: AM and success in Spain In 2012, he signed a record deal with the label Sony Music Spain, with which he released on November 12, 2013 his second studio album, titled AM. With this album, recorded in Madrid and Miami, she gave a twist to her style, including, in addition to ballads, pop and Latin electropop tracks and fusing the English and Spanish languages in her songs. In its first week on sale, AM was the sixth best-selling album in Spain and was certified gold. The first single, "Señorita", had great repercussion in several Latin American countries and some European countries, was certified gold and was on the list of the best-selling singles in Spain for more than 40 weeks.
