Introduction
"SOS Water" is a response to the need to address the problem of water pollution and lack of water. Despite the efforts made in recent years, there are still 2 billion people around the world who do not have access to safe drinking water.
- Understand the impact of human pollution on water quality.
- Identify and measure pollutants in water using innovative technology and methodologies..
Objectives
- Developing sustainable solutions to reduce water pollution.
- Promote teamwork, creativity and critical thinking in students.
Measuring water quality to understand human impact. We will be dedicated to finding small solutions to the big problem of water pollution. We will present the data with Scratch, we will design a pH classification system with Learning Machine Learning and we will create a robotic system that allows us to monitor and analyse water quality.
Motivation
We collect information
What do we know about pollution? What can we do about it? What can we do about it?
Activity 1:SOS Water with Scratch
Students will research different types of water pollution, their causes and their impact on the environment. Students will learn how Scratch works and the basic programming tools needed to create a presentation and an educational game.
Activity 2:SOS Water with Machine Learning
Students will learn what Machine Learning is and how it works, as well as the different types of algorithms used in the learning process.
Students will collect data of different colours and they will prepare it to be used in Machine Learning.
Activity 3:SOS Water with Robotics
Students will design and build their own off-road vehicle using LEGO blocks. The vehicle will be able to reach inaccessible places and take water samples as well as analyse its pH. For this we will follow an evolution in designing and programming.
