Basic modal rules

Modal verbs don't add -s to third person singular forms. Example: I can sing very well ( puedo cantar muy bien ) Pically, modal verbs don't conform to tense rules like other verbs. They don't change to show future or past tense Example: I will be able to finish the project by next week ( podre terminar el proyecto la próxima semana) Lastly, and most characteristically, modal verbs are followed by the bare infinitive of the main verb - the form without "to." Example: She could be back by noon. ( Ella podría regresar para mediodía)
