In the blood Stream Snorting, smoking or injecting cocaine will instantly enter your bloodstream. While using it orally can take up to 30 minutes to enter your bloodsteam. The high lasts for about 5 to 30 mintues. it moves through the circulatory system, circulating blood throughout the heart and into the bloodstream. It widens the blood vessel which allows an increase in blood flow throughout your body.

How it is used

In medical and local uses for anesthetic for some eye, ear, and throat surgeries

In the brain

In the brain cocaine blocks the absorption of dopamine transporter which results in the feeling of euphoria. It does not recycle dopamine properly causing builded up of dopmine in the synapse. It effects the subcallsol cortex(which regulates emotional behavior) and Hippocampus(memory) which is in the deep part of the temperal lobe

In the liver

In the liver cocaine is metabolized and excreted in the urine of people how have taken the drug after processing through their body. People who regular or chronically use cocaine are at higher risks of liver diease and liver cancer

Benzolecgonine is the major metabolite for cocaine and it is what is looked for when drug testing for cocaine

Metabolizing of cocaine

Benzolecgonine is the compound formed in your liver and disposed in your urine.Cocaine lasted for about 2 days in your blood and saliva. In your urine, in can last up to 4 to 5 days. It takes the longest to test in your hair follicle that can last for about 3-4 months .

Benzolecgonine

Depending on your chronic use of cocaine it might take longer for it to completely clear out of your system.

Who is effects of cocaine

Cocaine essentially effects all parties involved. For addicitve and chronic users it effects them and the people around them, friends and family. Long term effects to chornic users are permament damage to the sinuses, mouth, throat and lungs. Increase risk of heart attack and irregular heart rate. Long-term mature damage to the development of the pre-frontal cortex in young adults and teenager users.

Sympathetic nervous system

Fight or Flight

Cocaine produces a rapid increase in the autonomic nervous system. It activates the sympathetic nervous system by rising the levels of norepinephrine. Which nonrpinephrine increases alterness and arousal, is responible for reforming and retaining memories, focus and also is responsible for anxiety and depression.
nonrepinephrine- A neurotransmitter and a hormone

Bronchodilation

dilation of the airways

Cocaine does effect the sympathetic nervous system. It causes actions associated with the parasympathetic nervous system. By relaxing the muscles around the lungs and widening the passage of the airway, making it easier to breathe
