WorldFest 2023
I unfortunatley did not have my phone with me but after a lot of digging through social media I found one of me in the background.
ME!!
WorldFest is an event held by SMSU in Marshall, MN. It was a very fun experience where people get to learn about different cultures. There were many food vendors, a lot of which I have never tried before. It was a very filing day of trying different types of food.
This was a very cool experiences. We got to see cultural outfits, listen to different music, eat different foods. Right this moment I do not believe this will effect me, however in the future of my college I will most likely go out to these evvents more, maybe even take a few culture classes. It was a very interesing day.
This was a very engaging day. I talked with one of the food vendors and he showed me how to make an egg roll. There were a lot of differnet pieces of art. Varying from paintings to speeches. I learned that indians invented the word "shampoo".
I was in a few clubs in high school and connected with so many people. I thought it would be super easy to connect with people outside of school but it has become a struggle without a club or anything. Once I am in person at school, I will definitely go join a few clubs.
I went to a college hockey game with one of my best friends. Unfortunatley, I did not learn anything from this event nor did anything connect with my life totally. I did however start to realize how important it is to be part of a club(s) in your high school and college years.
My grandma and I went to a Veteran's Awareness bingo. All the proceeds went to veterans. This was such a fun experience. I had no idea this was even a thing. Aside from paying for the cards themselves, we were able to play a big card for a steak, ribs, hamburger, and other types of things. They did not really tell us anything educational but they told us some statistics on verterans and why what they do is important. This was a very goof experience for me not only was it fun, but I was able to feel good about spending my money for a cause. I even won! I did however give half of my earnings back to them.
This is a good way to get people more active in a community. I believe that I will definetly be doing more of this, whether it is still bingo or another type of fundraiser.
- 18.4 million men and women are veterans in 2022
- 25 veterans commit suicide every day, thats about one an hour
- 34% of veterans were left with perminant disabilities as of 2022
Thank you!
