Paying Homage
-It's almost impossible to miss the Bruce Lee "Game of Death" references in Kill Bill. The film's writer and director, Quentin Tarantino, pays homage to Lee, a matial arts legend with more than 25 films to his credit prior to his death. -During the filming of "Game of Death," Bruce Lee donned a striking yellow suit adorned with black stripes. Tragically, Lee's untimely demise occurred during the filming in 1973, leaving the movie unfinished. Consequently, an incomplete version was released that same year, followed by a feature-length edition in 1978, incorporating footage filmed posthumously to complete the film. In "Game of Death" Bruce Lee is forced to fight up a pagoda, a tall Japanese building. On each floor of the pagoda, he encounters a martial arts master, each better than the last. Similarly, Beatrix Kiddo fights the Crazy 88 where she is forced to fight an onslaught of increasingly difficult opponents in a pagonda-style restaurant.
Color
Yellow
The use of yellow is intended to feel warm and inviting, similar to the pale yellow walls in Vernita Green's kitchen. The yellow helps to center The Bride, allows for her to be seen at all times by the audience, especially during tense scenes where she battles hundreds of skilled swordsmen.

Costume Alterations
-Appearing on the Graham Norton Show, she said: “I really didn’t want to wear the yellow tracksuit.“I had just had my son and anyone that has just had a baby is not going to want to wear a skin-tight onesie, they would have a lot of anxiety. “So, there was a lot of training, a lot of work, and a lot of brilliant costume work (to) recreate the look of Bruce Lee while covering my belly.”
Leather Motorcycle Suit
Personal Armor
The versatility of leather as personal armor becomes evident as it serves as a means to arrive fully equipped in any situation. While bringing a samurai sword to a dinner party may not be socially acceptable a leather jacket is versatile. Whether fighting to the death or navigating a series of social encounters, a jacket with built-in tools becomes your ally. A leather version of burces lees original yellow jumpsuit modernizes while still paying homage to the martial arts expert.
The Bride's Footwear
Yellow Onitsuka Trainers
- Onitsuka Tiger merged with GTO and JELENK to form ASICS Corporation in 1977. Despite the name change, a vintage range of ASICS shoes are still produced and sold internationally under the Onitsuka Tiger label. - Hong Kong martial arts legend Bruce Lee was regularly pictured wearing Onitsuka Tiger shoes; claims they were shoes for athletes and liked to train in them.
The Bride's Sole
Custom Profanity Shoes
The sole of the the bride's shoe carries a custom imprint that boldly declares "fuck u." This deliberate choice serves to reinforce the underlying message of seeking revenge by metaphorically stepping on one's enemies, accompanied by a potent and unapologetic statement. The imprint serves as a visual representation of the wearer's determination to overcome obstacles and confront those who have wronged them. It symbolizes a fearless stride, leaving an indelible mark with every step, and sends a powerful message that the wearer will not be deterred or silenced. This audacious statement on the sole of the shoe serves as a constant reminder of strength and resilience, empowering the wearer to face any challenge head-on.
