- Dyslexia is a life-time condition. Due to difficulties recognizing speech sounds and understanding how they relate to letters and words (decoding), people with dyslexia have trouble reading. Dyslexia, sometimes known as a reading handicap, is brought on by individual variations in language processing regions of the brain.
- Problems with IQ, hearing, or vision are not the cause of dyslexia. It is not a result of motivation or laziness, and effort alone will not be enough to change the source, which is neurological.
Dyslexia is commonly seen inchildren aged between 4 - 7 years and may affect about 5% - 10% of population. As Emotional Support is significantly important to children.
Workplace, test and school accommodations
- Dyslexia
- Dyspraxia, dysgraphia
- Specific learning disorder involving reading, writing and math (dyscalculia, acalculia)
- Central auditory processing disorder
- Non-verbal learning disability
To prevent having to be retested later to meet the requirements of your test agency, get your dyslexia testing or other learning impairment assessment completed accurately.
Treatment and Percentages
- Dyslexia can't be cured, but it can be treated with the help of medication and a tutor.
- An Estimated one in ten people have dyslexia.
- Most important aspect of any treatment plan is attitude.
- An evaulation must be done to determine the child's specific area of disability.
- A child has 100% chance of dyslexia if both pareants have it. However A child has 50% chance of dyslexia if one parent have it.
