The team can have bad leadership and cause them to make slow decisions and take longer.
It may be that the members of the group do not live together and form an uncomfortable environment.
Advantages of

You can split up the work and spend a lot less time getting things done.
As they are in a group, they can support themselves with data or advice to make their work faster and more efficient.
