Creating the Master Schedule

Before & After Rollover

What can be done before & after rollover

Before Rollover:

  • Build your master schedule by creating your courses and blocks of course
  • Update students next year homeroom, counselor, house team
  • Load course requests
After Rollover:
  • Update staff room assignments in Room screen and on Staff Building Info screen
  • Run the scheduler

Let’s Start from the Beginning…

These are the steps we will cover when building your master schedule

  1. Creating a Course including ICS & ABSW Courses
  2. Building a Block of Courses
  3. Printing Block Report
  4. Printing the Master Schedule

Creating a Course in the Master Schedule

Creating a Course in the Master Schedule

In ESP: menu>scheduling>courses>course sections>master schedule

When on the master schedule search page, click on the + icon

Make sure your building is in the building field. Enter the course in the course field. Once the course has been entered and you click on the tab key, the section will populate.

Things to look at: Periods – all courses must have a designated period. Ex: Reading per 1, Math per 2, Science per 3, etc. Primary, Secondary and Room fields will need to be updated and correct staff will need to be entered.

Intermediate

Block courses that are only semester courses, you can click on and cross out the marking period that they don’t meet.

Mark Types on Elem Academic Classes only have fin & mkrp

Mark Types on Elem Block Classes have fin, mkrp, & part

Mark Types on Intermediate Courses should only have fin & mkrp

Once all information has been entered don’t forget to click save!

Building a Block of Courses

Block Courses

For you to build a block of courses, the individual courses must already be built in the master schedule.

On the master schedule screen, click on the + icon

Here is where you would add your courses or “blockettes” to the block. When adding the sections, make sure that you are adding the correct section to the blockette, if the teacher is partnered with another teacher. After adding be sure you click the mandatory check box.

Once all courses and sections have been entered, don’t forget to click save! Kinder Blocks will only have KHMRM, KNART,KNMUS,KNPE AND KNHTECH

Master Schedule Block Report

Cognos>team content>alief reports>scheduling center>master schedule block report

Once you have built your courses and your blocks in the master schedule, you are now able to run your Master Schedule Block Report. The school year you select would be the ending year. For 2022-2023, you would select 2023. Then you would select your building and click on finish.

This is what the Block Report looks like. You would have a different sheet for each Block of courses Using this report also helps when it is time to give your students course requests.
