- Beginning = prefix (number/amount, size, location, etc) - middle = root (relates to a part of body) - ending = suffix (pertaining to a process, procedure, amount, location, etc)

The five different prefixes for color: these are known as: - cyan/0 = blue - erythr/o = red - leuk/o = white - melan/o = black, dark - xanth/o = yellow
