INtroduction

01

For my genius hour project, I decided to explore the topic,” Ceramic Art with Air Dry Clay.” I was motivated to create a project with air dry clay ceramics because it was a fun and accessible way to express creativity and make unique and functional objects. Air dry clay is a type of clay that hardens as it dries, without the need for baking or firing. Ceramic art with air dry clay is a fun and easy way to create unique sculptures, pottery, and other decorative but functional objects. with air dry clay, it is possible to create a variety of textures, shapes, and designs, and the clay is easy to work with, even for beginners. For my project, I decided to explore with air dry clay to create themes sets such as,fruits, jewelry trays, and other creative pieces. As I made pieces I gathered inspiration from many different objects and used them to create many different items.

What i learned?

04

My air dry clay ceramics project can taught me about the properties of clay and how it behaves when it dries.I learned about different techniques for manipulating clay, such as pinch pots, coil building, and slab construction.Working with air dry clay helped me develop finer motor skills and hand-eye coordination.I learned about the importance of planning and sketching out your ideas before starting to work with clay. I was able to explore different surface decoration techniques, such as carving, stamping, and painting. Finally, I learned about the importance of patience and perseverance when working with a material that takes time to dry and cure.I was able to experiment with different textures and finishes, such as glossy, matte, or textured surfaces and I also learnt about the history and cultural significance of ceramics in different parts of the world.

As a continuation of my project, I realized that I can use the pieces I make for more purposes. A few ways that I could use the clay for the future are:-To create custom planters for indoor or outdoor plants. -To make holiday ornaments or decorations for special occasions. -To create unique and personalized picture frames, which make great gifts. -To create characters and props for your projects.

Monstera Bowl

This is my favorite piece out of all the pieces I have created and its also my biggest piece.I got inspiration from the monstera plant and decided to make a repilca of the plant to use as a fruit holder. While it isn't completed yet, I think it will look great when completed.
