1.1 Empowered Learner) Students leverage technology to take an active role in choosing, achieving, and demonstrating competency in their learning goals, informed by the learning sciences1.1. a) Students articulate and set learning goals, develop strategies leveraging technology to achieve them and reflect on the learning process itself to improve learning outcomes 1.1.b) Students build networks and customize their learning environments in ways that support the learning process 1.1.c) Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways 1.1.d) Students understand the fundamental concepts of technology operations, demonstrate the ability to choose, use and troubleshoot current technologies, and are able to transfer their knowledge to explore emerging technologies
ABCD Objective
A: Pre-k (Boys and girls ages 5-6)B: Students will be able to identify what living things need to survive, and the consequences of needs not being met (death). Students will then create an infographic about needs and what happens when needs are unmet. C: Students will engage in peer discussions and collaborative groups, communicate about the specific examples of needs, and create an infographic of their knowledge. D: Students will be able to give direct examples of scenarios in which needs aren’t being met and are, model what happens when they are and aren’t being met, and apply their knowledge to a plant or animal of their choice
Description
Students will be able to identify what living things need to thrive such as; water, sunlight, air, food, and shelter. As well as predicting outcomes when they are met, describing when outcomes aren’t met, and identifying why an outcome occurred. Students will do this by using emerging technologies to create. Using Genial.ly students will create an infographic about the needs of a plant or animal, and the consequences of needs not being met. In Genial.ly students can use templates and cool editing tools to create posters/infographics displaying their understanding of the subject.
Instructional Strategies
Teachers would be able to use this tool, Genial.ly, to create posters and or presentations to present examples of projects and expectations for the project, as well as teach using different displays and visual aids. Students can use Genial.ly to create different projects displaying their understanding of the concepts learned in class, as well as making their ideas more creative and eye-catching.
Prerequisites
Students must have a basic understanding of how to navigate Genial.ly like adding and removing pictures, text, and visual aids. Along with how to find information on their topic and list it in their projects.
Strengths& Limitations
Allows students to be creative and make unique projectsStudents are about to increase engagement with multimedia projects Can aid in the understanding of the concepts through visual aids Students can collaborate on a visual project with Genial.ly together Auto-saves work when a student is done with their segment
There are many different options for layout, templates, etc. Confusing to navigate and there are many advanced features Only one person can edit at a time using the free version of Genial.ly It is easy to erase and or remove content without getting it back
Bloom's Taxonomy
Remember- Be able to identify what living things need to thriveUnderstand- What is needed for living things. Apply- Distinguish the outcomes when these needs are met. Analyze- The needs when not met Evaluate- Significance for needs to organism. Create- Using Genial.ly students will create an infographic.
Gardner’s multiple intelligences
- Visual Spatial- Genialy allows students to see a visual representation of the information because teachers can create posters or presentations to present examples of the project.
- Interpersonal- Students will engage in peer discussions and collaborative groups, communicate about the specific examples of needs, and create an infographic of their knowledge.
- Linguistic- Students will be able to give direct examples of certain scenarios.
Special Features
Many different graphics/visual aids to choose fromTemplates to put information on (and can even search different subjects/topics for templates) Different fonts, colors, moving animations, and personal photos to add to project Ability to share with others to edit, view, or comment on similarly to Google Drive features
