Purpose/Subject: This is an advertisement trying to advocate for their candy. Audience: When it comes to the audience, it covers everything.Children are drawn in by the candy and color, teenagers by the allusion to technology, and adults by the way the shapes are arranged in a way that makes it look like a typewriter. Producers: The are no sponsors and this is just an M&Ms ad just trying to advocate for itself.
You could basically show this entire advertisement to anyone, and they would enjoy it and probably want some M&Ms or candy. The ad is creative and effective. It isn't advancing falsehoods or bits of insight, all it's advancing is a delicious candy with an exceptionally sharp plan to advocate for it to make it more intriguing. It simply employs elements that elicit feelings of nostalgia, happiness, and a desire for candy.
The M and M keyboard, which has the appearance of a "typewriter," also evokes feelings of nostalgia. which attracts younger children as well as older people who are familiar with typewriters.
The print advertisement for "personalized M&M's" M&Ms in this candy commercial is a great example of a straightforward design that is both effective and visually appealing. In the middle of a rectangle with a white background, thirty different colored circles are arranged slightly more toward the top. On the three rows of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and brown circles, a letter or word is written in white. To give each circle a nice shine, the upper left corner has a white tint. The bottom right has what appears to be a three-dimensional shadow. The colors first draw our attention to the center of the advertisement. Without seeing the M&M's logo at the bottom, many viewers would be able to figure out that these circles are candy and that the candy is M&M's.
Because this advertisement is promoting the idea of happiness and old memories in addition to a tasty treat, I believe it employs ethos and pathos. They are attempting to inspire you to purchase their sweets. The candy causes you to feel nostalgic and hungry for these treats.
Near the bottom of the advertisement, the M&Ms logo and two lines of text read "Communication just got Sweeter" and "Personalize your M&Ms at mymms.com." Even though the personalized M&Ms come in up to 20 different colors, the designers of this advertisement decided to use the colors of the original M&Ms so that it would be easier for viewers to understand what they are seeing.
