What is Nearpod
Nearpod is a presentation tool that allows teachers to create interactive presentations. The interactive elements can increase student engagement. Many of the elements also allow for differentiation, gamification, and assessment of student learning.
This genially will focus on adding a few specific interactive tools that are in alignment with your goals for this coaching process. Each tool will be accompanied by a brief description of its use, sugggestions for implementation, and a connection back to your goals. Below you will find a linked list of all of the tools Nearpod has to offer and descriptions of what they do. Feel free to peruse them at your convenience.

Creating Tools within Nearpod
Nearpod has many pre-made, standard aligned lessons that you can access and use in their Nearpod library OR you can import your own premade PowerPoints, Google Slides, or PDFs to and add the following interactive elements. Many of these elements listed may already offer pre-made options to match your lesson.Create
- Slides - Create your own slides in this feature with all of the information your students will need.
- Slide Show - Add files that you want your students to scroll through. This will keep it in one easy-to-see place.
- Sway - Create a simple website/presentation to share.
- PDF - Upload a PDF
- Powerpoint - Upload any PowerPoint you already have created and make it interactive!
- Images - Upload any images you have or select from the nearpod library.
- Audio - Add audio as its own slide for your students to listen to.

Nearpod has many pre-made, standard aligned lessons that you can access and use in their Nearpod library OR you can import your own premade PowerPoints, Google Slides, or PDFs to and add the following interactive elements. Many of these elements listed may already offer pre-made options to match your lesson. Interactive:
- Video - Copy the URL for any video and add questions to check for understanding.
- Web Content - Share a link to articles and other websites.
- Flocabulary Video - Show an educational music video on the topic of your choice.
- BBC Video - Offers a variety of Science and SOcial Studies Documentaries.
- Brain Breaks - Allow your students to take a break during a long, strenous lesson with a fun, or calming video expereince.
- Nearpod 3D - Allow students to interact and explore objects in 3D.
- Simulation - Premade simulations for science and math offer a self guided, and assesed lab/real-world experience.
- VR Feild Trip - Travel through the world virtually and visit the many wonders of the world!

- Quiz- Create a multiple-choice quiz.
- Draw it - Students can respond by drawing a picture, inserting an image, or writing a response.
- Fill in the blank - Insert a passage with keywords missing for your students to fill in the blank.
- Memory Test - Check students understanding with a fun memory-matching game.
- Time to climb - A multiple choice quiz, but make it a game. Students answer questions to race and win the game.
- Matching - Check for understanding with a matching pair game. Students connect the two cards that match or that answer a question.

Discussion Tools

- Collaborate Board - Have a class discussion right on the screen. Students can answer questions and have a discussion on the collaborative board. The newest features allows teachers to add columns on the discussion board!
- Flip - With a flip account, students can record and upload quick videos answering questions and sharing ideas.
- Poll - Take a poll on students' feelings, a vote for the class, understanding of the material, or a multiple choice question, all under poll.
- Open-ended question - Ask a question, and students can respond to you in text or audio format.

Engagement, polls, and debates are known to increase Critical Thinking Skills. The poll questions, collaboration boards, and interactive elements offered in Nearpod help to acheive this goal.
Structure the lesson so students engage in communication, analysis, synthesis, problem-solving, evaluation, and reflection.
The use of technology is known to teach critical thinking skills and foster self-regulated learning. The ability to present multiple models can clarify complex concepts.
