For the first time were used new weapons like poison gas and machine gun and new war veichels like tanks.

The assasination of Francisco Ferdinando
One month before the start of WWI the Archduke of Austria, Francisco Ferdinando and his wife were killed during a visit Sarajevo, capital city of Serbia.
The killer was Gavrilo Princip, a bosniac terrorist who wanted to overthrow the government.
THE WWI OF THE UNITED KINGDOM
The Battles of the British Army
The most important battles of the War were the battle of Verdun, which caused an estimate of 1 million victims and the battle of La Somme which caused an estimate of eight hundred thousands victims.
The UK was initially reluctant to get involved in the war and sought to broker a peaceful solution between the conflicting powers. However, after Germany invaded Belgium, the United Kingdom felt it had no choice but to declare war, supporting France and the French Army.
THE END OF THE WAR
The intervention of the United States and the defeat of the Central Empires
With the intervention of the USA in 1917, the fate of the war changed radically.In fact, with the help of the Americans' soldiers, UK and France finally defeated Germany on the Western Front, and Italy defeated Austria on the Austro-Hungaric Front.
After the last try of Germany, easily interrupted by UK and France, in November 11th, 1918, the "Great War", later called "The First World War" ended.
