A phrase is a group of words, but a clause is a group of words that contains both a subject and. a verb.
Genially
Try It
An independent clause has a subject and a verb and can stand alone.
It's a complete thought! Ex: Teagan fixed dinner for her family.
A dependent clause still has a subject and verb but can't stand alone. It is being impaired by a subordinating conjunction.
Ex: AFTER Teagan fixed dinner for her family, WHILE Teagan fixed dinner for her family, SINCE Teagan fixed dinner for her family,
