In the site of origin of the Galapagos island there is an exit point of magma known as hot spot. This one is located in the mantle and is fixed. Thus it doesn’t move with the plates. Eruptions here produce lava, which accumulates until it forms islands.

Coastal plains: located in the litoral region, west from the Andean mountain range. They are big plains that extend from the foothills of the the Western mountain range until the Pacific Ocean.
