Purpose
o Environmental chemist’s main focus is to make the best judgement in order to aid in conservation and sustainability. o They examine the air, water and soil to identify how a chemical enters an ecosystem and what effect they have, and how the environment is effected by humanity. o They use the measurements of the chemicals they find in these places to hypothesize what long-term effects these chemicals could have on organism populations, human and non-human, in the environment. o If they find a chemical to be hazardous, the chemical is disposed and the sight is repaired. o Environmental chemist can both work in field work, and work in a laboratory environment, using tools and devices to measure, interpret, and model data.
