Chest compressions

WHAT NOT TO DO

If they don´t respond

Check their response

Place one hand on top of the other on the center of their chest, between their nipples

  • If the person has normal breathing, DO NOT start chest compressions. Doing so may cause the heart to stop beating.
  • Mouth-to-mouth is no longer necessary.
  • DO NOT stop making the compressions. even if you are tired.
  • Place your hands correctly.

Check if they are breathing and their pulse.

Talk to them

Call 911/112. Follow the next steps if they are not breathing

Interlock your fingers and press down the chest (about 2 inches), repeat this at 100-120 compressions per minute

Shake them or pinch them
