Variations in the HLA-DRB1 gene have been associated with an increased risk of developing multiple sclerosis and also other diseases. We mentioned that Katherine's mother has this disease because it says that this disease can make delivery really difficult. In this case, Katherine's mother almost dies from giving birth.

Katherine was born on August 17, 1986. She is a white woman who had lived with her mother most of her life. Katherine's father left when she was a newborn. In the household, it was only Katherine, Katy, and their mother. Katherine started getting abused by both of them at the age of 1. From getting cursed at, getting pinched, and getting spanked so hard it left marks all over her body.

Born August 17, 1986

Poor Katherine

She realized that she got it from her mother's friend who kept coughing and sneezing. Tuberculosis (TB) is transmitted from an infected person to a susceptible person in airborne particles, called droplet nuclei.

The doctor does his greetings and tells Katherine that she has an infection that has targeted her lungs. Katherine looks confused and he further explains that she has tuberculosis. He tells her it's curable and she takes 600mg of Rifapentine-moxifloxacin for at least 4 months.

Tuberculosis is an illness that mostly affects the lungs and the organs. In this case, it affected her adrenal glands, A small gland that produces steroid hormones, adrenaline, and noradrenaline is the adrenal gland. These hormones aid in the regulation of heart rate, blood pressure, and other vital body functions.

Tuberculosis, April 3, 2003

During spring break, Katherine was rushed to the hospital due to having a blocked airway. Her mother thought she was having an asthma attack, so she told her she will be okay. After all the back and forth between her mother and sister, Katherine decided to just close her eyes. An hour went by and a doctor was standing over her.

The adrenal glands' outer layer (cortex) secretes a variety of vital hormones. These include glucocorticoids, which are involved in metabolism and stress resistance.
Adrenal gland enlargement also has been reported in patients with major depression and has been hypothesized as an index of cumulative lifetime depression.

When she sees that they're excited, she gets excited. After a long week of staying at the hospital, it's time for Katherine to go home. When she arrives, everyone's mood changes. Her mother began yelling and calling her selfish. She then tells her to clean up the house. The house has about 4 months' worth of dishes.

Depression and Stress

Katherine finally wakes up and sees that her family is extremely excited that she has woken up.

After years go by, Katherine couldn't take her mother anymore. She gets her brother in law gun and shoots herself. She ends up in a coma for four months.

It is classified as an autoimmune disorder because it results from a malfunctioning immune system that attacks the adrenal glands. As a result, the production of several hormones is disrupted, which affects many body systems.
Addison’s disease, which is the autoimmune disease she has is caused by the malfunction of the adrenal glands and the adrenal glands release hormones that produce cortisol. Cortisol affects several aspects of the body and mainly helps regulate the body's response to stress.
They also had to do a blood test, an ACTH stimulation test, and a CT scan. Blood tests help doctors check for certain diseases and conditions. They also help check the function of your organs and show how well treatments are working. ACTH stimulation test is the main medical test to diagnose adrenal insufficiency. A CT scan can find changes in your adrenal glands.
Katherine was rushed to the hospital and the doctors managed to raise her blood pressure cause it was low. They found that when she was younger she had tuberculosis.

She started having more symptoms, such as a fever, hyperpigmentation, dehydration, weight loss, confusion, salt craving, etc. This all caused her to have shock.

Part 2: Test and Diagnosis

Addison's Disease

Other symptoms not mentioned are irregular periods, low sodium levels in the blood, high potassium levels in the blood, and weak muscles.

Hypovolemic Shock, July 5, 2020

She is also a health advocate around the world and she loves what she does.
She is married to Dr. Richter and they have a one year old son named Dylan.

Happy Ending

She has to take this two or three times a day for the rest of her life and that she might need Intravenous therapy if necessary.

Mother dies from multiple sclerosis and at her funeral her sister Katy finally apologizes to her.

Flurodrocortison and Hydrocortisone

Medicines

She has to take Fludrocortisone tablets to replace the adrenal hormone aldosterone, which the adrenal gland should normally make. Aldosterone is an important hormone as it acts on your kidneys to tell them to keep salt in your body. If your adrenal glands are not making enough cortisol, hydrocortisone tablets work by replacing the hormone and bringing your levels up to normal.
