What is the urinary system??
The urinary system is made up of two kidneys, two ureters, a urinary bladder, and the urethra. It serves to eliminate waste substances, salts, and maintain the balance of body fluids
The kidneys
They are two organs that are located on the sides of the spine, at the level of the last ribs and behind the parietal peritoneum. A function is that regulates the concentration, volume, and pH of the blood, and remove waste substances to form urine.
The amount of urine can be variable: in general, it is eliminated between a liter and a liter and a half in 24 hours, but if we do not drink liquids, its quantity decreases
Nephron (inside the kidneys)
The nephron is an essential element of the homeostatic mechanism, by regulating the filtration, absorption and excretion of water and the different molecules dissolved in it, from salts and glucose to larger elements such as lipids and proteins
The parts that conform the neuphron are the glomerulus, Bowman's capsule, Proximal convoluted tube, Loop of Henle, Distal convoluted tube, and the collecting duct.
Functions of the glomerulosa zone and tubular
In general, the function of the glomerulosa zone consists of the filtration of liquids and their components. The tubule, for its part, is related to functions of modifying the volume and composition of the filtrate. This is accomplished by reabsorption of substances into the plasma and secretion of substances from the plasma into the tubular fluid. Thus, the urine manages to have the elements that must be excreted in order to maintain the volume and the stable composition of the liquids inside the organisms.
Glumerulosa= filtration Tubule= Volume
Ureters
They are two retroperitoneal ducts that extend from the kidneys to the urinary bladder; They are made up of three tunics: mucosa, which is inside; muscular, having circular and longitudinal fibers, and a fibrous outer tunic (outer layer of fibrous connective tissue surrounding an organ). They carry urine from the renal pelvis to the urinary bladder.
Urinary bladder
It is a hollow organ located in the pelvis, behind the pubis and in front of and above the rectum in men and in front of the vagina and behind the pubis in women. Its function is to temporarily store the urine that is coming through the ureters; When the amount of urine exceeds 400 or 500 mL, receptors that carry the impulse to the spinal cord are stimulated, which causes the micturition reflex through which urine is expelled.
Urethra
It is a conduit that communicates the bladder with the outside. In women it serves to conduct urine from the urinary bladder to the outside and in men, it also has reproductive functions, because it gives way to sperm or semen from the exit holes of the ejaculatory ducts. Inflammation of the urethra is called urethritis and is often a consequence of sexually transmitted infections.
Disease 1:
Trichomoniasis is a common sexually transmitted disease caused by the parasite “Trichomonas vaginalis”. Infected men usually have no symptoms, but women affected by the parasite may experience vaginal itching, painful urination, and foul-smelling vaginal discharge. The treatment consists of a metronidazole administration therapy, a medication that kills parasites.
Disease 2
Mucopurulent cervicitis is a sexually transmitted disease that is usually a complication of gonorrhea or chlamydial infection. It is an inflammation of the cervix, that is, the part of the uterus that communicates with the vagina. Although sometimes there are no symptoms, cervicitis usually causes bleeding outside the menstrual period, abnormal vaginal secretions, pain during sexual intercourse, increased tendency to urinate, pain during urination, etc. The treatment to combat it depends on the pathogen that has caused it, although usually prescribing antibiotics is enough for it to subside.
