What is Boys Planet ?

Boys Planet is a survival show produced by the 1st korean TV chanel MNET. It is the male version of MNET previous survival show Girls Planet 999. The goal of this survival show is to create a futur famous Kpop boy group of 9 trainees that will debut at the end. Around 90 trainees battle it out during the program to be in the TOP 9.

How does it work ?

K Group G Group

The Korean trainees are in K Group and at the start of the show they are around 40. Most of the trainees that will make it to the final lineup will be Korean.

The Global trainnees are in G Group and at the start of the show they are around 40. They come from Japan, China, USA, Canada, Thailand and Vietnam. Only a few of them will make it to the final lineup.

What are the missions ?

The trainees are put in teams within their group and have to perform one song by a famous kpop group. One team from the another group will perform the same song and we will see which one did it better. The winning team gets a benefit of points and can perform on Mcountdown and Studio Choom.

5 new songs are created for the final mission and the remaining trainees gets sorted in them by the public. They have to create a concept and arrange the song to prove that they can adapt and perform brand new songs. The winning team gets a benefit of points and a special fanmeeting with fans and can perform on Mcountdown.

For the 2nd mission, the trainees chose what they're the most confident in : Vocal & Dance, Rap & Dance or Vocal & Rap. They are in groups of 3 to 5 and they can cover many differents genres of songs. They have to stand out with their main skills. The winning teams in each position gets a benefit of points and can perform on Mcountdown.

The eliminations rounds

Between every mission there is an elimination round

It is announced after 5 weeks and after the 1st mission. Around 40 trainees get eliminated after 4 weeks of voting for 9 trainees.

Is is announced after 11 weeks and after the 3rd mission. 18 trainnees will be going to the finals and 10 will get eliminated after 2 weeks of voting for 3 trainees.

It is announced after 8 weeks and after the 2nd mission. Around 25 trainees get eliminated after 2 weeks of voting for 6 trainees.

The Final mission

The Finale will determined the debut group. The 18 trainees are sorted in 2 brand new songs : Jelly Pop and Hot Summer. They will perform those songs during the Finale in a stade of 6 000 people and the announcement of the ones who made it in the debut group will be revealed as well as the name of the group and the time they will be active.

  • Solji (famous kpop idol known for her incredible vocals and also teach lessons in college)
  • Lee Seokhoon (korean professional singer and vocal trainer)
  • Onestar (personal vocal trainer of some of the most famous kpop groups)
