1. Add fuel to the fire: to make an argument or bad situation worse.

4. Dig one's own grave: to do something that causes you harm, sometimes serious harm.
5. Go too far: to behave in a way that upsets or annoys people.
6. Lash out: to spend a large amount of money in a way that is unnecessary or that wastes it.

8. Heavy-handed: using too much force in dealing with someone.
