Ramadan commemorates the revelation of the first verses of the Koran, by Allah to the Prophet Muhammad. Its duration oscillates between 29 and 30 days, each year falls on a different date in the western calendar.

For them this is a time of struggle against desires and passions, with the aim of avoiding evil and being closer to Allah.
