Physical activity is, along with healthy eating, the way to stay healthy longer. Its benefits make us less likely to get sick so including physical activity in the daily routine is essential.
What is physical activity?
World Health Organization defines physical activity as “any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy expenditure”. Physical activity refers to all movement, physical exercise refers to planned and repetitive physical activity that seeks to improve health as well as physical condition.
Everyone should exercise often, as it is the best way to preserve the physical condition.
Benefits of physical activity
Regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. Being physically active can improve your brain health, help manage weight, reduce the risk of disease, strengthen bones and muscles, and improve your ability to do everyday activities. If you exercise, you:
- Will lose weight and keep it off.
- Will reduce your health risk (cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and also cancer).
- Will strengthen your bones and muscles.
- Will increase your chances of living longer.
Recommendations for including physical activity in daily life
You should walk, bike and move through methods that do not include vehicles such as cars or motorcycles.You should schedule your activities, make an effort to make a space between your daily activities and start exercising continuously.
If you do not have access to sports and recreational facilities, do so at home. With the right exercises, health also improves.
