this week: types of sentences
A simple sentence contains one independent clause. Example: I ate ice cream. A compound sentence contains two independent clauses. Example: I ate Taco Bell, and I became ill shortly afterwards. Note: you have to have special punctuation (a semicolon or a comma and a conjunction to join two independent clauses together) A complex sentence contains one indpendent clause and one dependent clause. Example: After he obtained his degree, Daniel got a job at a computer company.
