How does it work?

Cornelis Jacobszoon Drebbel was a Dutch engineer and inventor. He was the builder of the first operational submarine in 1620 and an innovator who contributed to the development of measurement and control systems, optics and chemistry. It was an iron submarine, covered in copper, 6.50 meters long, also propelled by hand, but this time with the help of a gear reduction system. It was capable of holding four men for four hours underwater. An iron and glass bulb served as an observation turret.

It was a completely enclosed ship that could be submerged and rowed under the surface of the water.
