AUTHORSHIP

The commercial is directed by Joel Limchoc and is actually based on a true story. It is an inspiring story of Cocoy Rubio who lost his job as a bartender. Through his hardships and with the help of gcash loan, he was able to start a business and became a business owner.

PURPOSE

The target audience is the ones who need to start a business, and individuals who are able to use gcash as a mode of their mobile payments and wallet.

This commercial was made to inspire people with their current situation;

To promote using gcash loans in business, and as a digital wallet.

ECONOMICS

The producers and the GCash itself or the Mynt Company paid for this commercial to promote the usage of gcash, make it known to the public, and encourage viewers to use and apply for a gcash account.

1. The workers that lost their job in times of pandemic.

IMPACT

2. People who aren't aware how to use gcash, because of scams and he/she might click different buttons that can cause consequences.

3. This advertisement matters to me because this encourages people to take risk in starting something new such as for a job or business using accessible sources like gcash that is easy to use.

RESPONSE

I will encourage the people that lost their job because of the pandemic to look for a job and use gcash because it is safer and more convenient.

MESSAGE & MEANINGS

CONTENT

It is about an individual who lost his job but was able to get up on his own two feet by starting his own business with the help of a digital wallet, like gcash, as a mode of payment. In starting a business, an individual needs to learn about the know-hows of what they intend to do through researching, practising, and polishing the skills they will need. They should also know about what the current trends are in order to make their business boom with customers. Since opening a business is hard for just an individual, the support that they will get from their family and friends is very much appreciated.

TECHNIQUES

The technique they use is called association and connection to the customer, where they tell a real-life scenario and then connect it to the product they are endorsing for them to highlight more about the product. They also used this kind of technique to connect it to real-life scenarios that may occur in an individual. They communicate the message through the needs of an individual and the things that the individual may encounter in the future.

REPRESENTATIONS & REALITY

CONTEXT

It was made last February 10, 2023. Using a social media application named “Youtube”, it was shared with the public.

INTERPRETATION

People might see this as an inspiration to see the silver lining in every problem they are facing. But some will take it negatively and just focus on the negative side of the story.

Our interpretation from this commercial is that, no matter how rough our current situation is, there will always be a solution and a silver lining. We should not let our problems defeat us, but rather be ready to face them all the time.

This is a fact because it shows how exactly Filipinos uses gcash app in their routines whether it is for business or family especially during the pandemic. It is very credible because the short film or story shown in the commercial is based on a true story that makes it persuading and believable.

CREDIBILITY

The short story or film in the commercial entitled "Cocoy" is based from a true story from Cagayan de Oro, Mindanao in 2020. After the announcement of the pandemic stated by the Labor of Department, many Filipino workers lost their job and source of incomes that made it hard for them to get a money.
