Who was Henry the eighth ?
He was born at the end of the 15th century . Henry was the second son of Henry VII and of Elizabeth of York .

Henry VIII marked the 16th century because he had six wives so more wives that any other monarch in the history of Great Britain . But also because he was a :

He married her because she was his brother's widow . But despite a strong marriage Henry VIII divorced Catherine in 1533 because he wanted to make Anne Boleyn his wife .

Together they had only a girl ( Mary 1st alias Bloody Mary ). Henry wasn't happy to have a girl because he wanted a son to become King of England after his death.

In 1526 , Henry met her as Catherine of Aragon's maid of honour. He immediatly feel in love her but Anne refused to become just his mistress , she wanted to be his wife.

Henry soon focused on annulling his marriage with Catherine to be free to marry Anne . But after several failures for the annulment of the marriage , it became clear that the marriage would not be annulled by the Pope of Catholic Church .

What were the consequences of this breakup ?
In 1534 , The Parliament passed a law called the Act of Supremacy . With this The Parliament recognised Henry VIII as Head of the Church in England (that period was called Anglican Schism )
Anne was accused of adultery and treason against the King , so she was beheaded in 1536 . She was executed at the Tower of London .
Together they had only a girl (Elizabeth 1st ) . Henry was desperate because he wanted a male heir.

After the Anne's execution, Henry married Jane Seymour . All of Henry's wiwes she was probably the most important to Henry because she could give him a son .
She was his third wife
His son nammed Edward VI . Unfortunately Jane Seymour died shortly after giving birth ( in 1537) .

Henry married her after his divorce but a few months later she was accused of adultery so she was beheaded ( in 1541) .

Catherine Parr famous for surviving at the tyrant who was Henry . She was a good queen but also a good stepmother because she had a very close relationship with the Henry's three children .
She was his sixth and last wife
She wasn't just a Queen she was also a writer who published anonymously some of her books but one day she decided to publish one of her books with her own name . She wasn't ashamed to show in her books the Protestant she was.
She was still with him until his death ( who was probably caused by his obesity).
