Is professional boxing an ethical sport?
I chose my title due to: My interest and connection to boxing, My knowledge on ethicality, i wanted to learn how different subjects can link together. Not only will my project help me develop my essay writing within university as well as referencing and being able to adapt and easily find resources for my research. My project has also helped me within my personal life and health due to boxing being the sport that i partake in for leisure my project has helped me understand the ethical and health aspects that can effect me. I found out about the topic of boxing as it is the sport i have played for over a year and take great interest in and therefore wanted to discover more about the subject.
Research Methodology

I completed my EPQ through the use of planning and structure, by finding initial resources and using them to form a clear base for my essay and further extending my knowledge and essay off of this.
In terms of choosing resources i gathered my resources and placed each resource under a topic in able to form a basic essay i then discovered which resources i needed to find and which resources i would not need to use but still gained basic knowledge from.
When conducting research i focused on secondary research and did not do primary research, this was because i could not find a focus group that understood enough about ethics to be able to make a fair judgement on whether boxing was an ethical sport.

Main Findings
The answer to the question of: Is Professional boxing an ethical sport was that ethics has a gray area for what sports can be defined as being ethical however the sport and players overall generally meet the requirements of the four virtues of ethics for sport and is therefore ethical, only in certain circumstances will it not be. I answered this question throughout the knowledge i had compiled throughout the project.
My Main Findings were that ethics are dependent on the context that they are put in, in order to be able to tell whether ethics are positive or negative multiple factors are needed to be considered. Women's boxing history has only matched with men's rules and ability within the last twenty years and therefore their ethical standards have not caught up either.
Sources
The most useful sources i used within my project were the medical journals, as they provide factual information from professionals that can provide expert opinions. The WBC code of ethics also was useful due to the fact it gives an example of what is considered ethical within boxing.

Planning
Plan
I planed my project by creating monthly and weekly plans as a basis of what needed to be completed, I then created a plan of what would needed to be included in the essay and what research would needed to be completed for those topics.
Deadlines
I had created both monthly and weekly plans all which had dealines for research, writing and project Q. Some deadlines had to be moved which is shown in my plans due to illness.

Initial Plan
My initial plan had been detailed to guide me in a basic manner, however i believe i should have made more detailed points for each topic, to have a more guided structure for my essay. A positive was having the weekly plans to see how much i had to acomplish.
I followed my monthly plans, however the weekly plans were changeable dependent on what was happenening with my time management each week. However i easily follwedd my reseach and presentation plans.

Strengths
Whilst completeing my EPQ my main strength was working independently. Working independently meant that i could use my own ideas and structures to be able to plan and word my essay how i wanted to with as little support as i felt possible. Other strength's were finding resources and planning both of which helped with making a basic foundation for my EPQ.

Weaknesses
My Main weakness whilst doing this EPQ was time-management, this was because my time management changed every week and therefore even with my weekly plans i did not have a set amount of time each week which hindered my productivitity whillst completeing the project therefore next time i would attempt to set out to have set time slots in order to have better time- management.
What Have I Learnt?

I have learnt...
During the development of this EPQ i have learnt how to reference and write citations for the first time, which has lead me to discover how to cite and reference different resources, this will help me with being able to reference and cite for reports and essay later in my educational career. By making and presenting this presentation i have also further developed my presentation and communication skills. I have also learnt about how ethics work within sport and specifically boxing and how many factors weigh into the decision for ethics such as medical factors, mental factors, public, personal and fight style factors.
What would I do differently next time?

What I would do Differently next time...
Planning
Presentation
Next time i would plan my topic points in greater detail. I would also creater greater time-bounds in my plans in order to have bettertime management.
Next time i would also prefer to practice my presentation more to be able to have full confidence in my presenting abilities.

Next time i would create and save drafts differently, i could do this by copying my documents and saving them this way i would be able to view my progress.
Next time i would write my references and cite as i write my essay due to the knowledge and skills i have gained.
