Effects of rainforest deforestation
- Increased Drought
The rainforests are refered to as the Earths lungs as they absorb 20% of earths Carbon Dioxide. If we destroyed the majority or even all of the rainforests we wouldnt necessarily lose 1/5 of the earth's oxygen. However, the Earth's health would be affected as the rainforests are a huge contributor to oxygen output.
- Reduced rainfall in the region
- 30 million people would lose their homes, 2.7 million of them being indigenous.
- Rainforests house over half of the earths plant and animal species. If all rainforests disapeared, 10% of all animals and plants on earth would go with it.
How Can we help prevent deforestation?
Theres no garantee that poeple will stop burining the Rainforests, however YOU can help reduce the disire to.
You may not be able to legally stop corperations from burning rainforests. However you can help by decreasing the NEEDS and DISIRES for big co products by supporting local farms, meats, shower products, eco freindly paper and toilet paper alternatives.
- Watch and limit your use of paper products
- use recycled toilet paper or a bidet
- Watch how much paper you use
- Put a no junk mail sticker on your mailbox to reduce paper by mail
- Protest
- Go to protests to build Political pressure
- Watch what shower products you use
- many shampoos, conditioners and soap products use oil and many other ingredients from deforestation.
How can we aoid deforestaion?
We can avoid unehical defestation by replacing slash farming with sustanible farms that last more than just one cycle. Instead we should be using farm land forever, without burning, and without pesticides. We can do this by using other methods such as combine farming. Combine farming is when you use animal waste to fertilize the land, growin crops, and repeating. These simple steps can make the land sustain as long as needed. Growing healthy soil without burning is indeed easy and is suprisingly not used widly.
In conclusion
Deforestation is a leading problem in the damage of the Lihosphere and pollution. These tropical rinforests, and all forests hould be protected.
