- Supermarket’s entrances are on the right because research has shown that consumers who travel in a counter-clockwise direction tend to spend more.
- The most profitable products are found at eye level so that customers can see them effortlessly.
- Mineral water is considered essential, so it is at the back of the store. It makes customers go through the whole store, and they could be tempted/enticed to buy other items on the way.
- Sweets and gift cards are usually located at the checkout. Indeed, customers spend some time at the checkout counter, and fatigue and stress can make people vulnerable to eating, which induces impulse buying of food.

- Customers are advised to eat before shopping so as not to be tempted by junk food.
- Customers had better make a list and stick to it, not to buy items they don’t need and might go wasted.
