Water Crisis

Due to salinization, sewage, and hazardous chemicals from farming activities, water contamination is a serious issue. The transmission of disease is facilitated by the water supply's impurities. The country is also susceptible to drought, earthquakes, flooding, and cyclones.

While urban areas get water from a shallow freshwater aquifer that is located in the porous limestone that makes up the islands, rural areas typically rely on rainwater collected from rooftops.
