สนามแม่เหล็ก (Magnetic Field)

สนามแม่เหล็ก คือ บริเวณที่แท่งแม่เหล็กส่งแรงไปถึงสารแม่เหล็ก และประจุไฟฟ้าที่เคลื่อนที่ (ไม่มีผลต่อประจุไฟฟ้าที่อยู่นิ่ง) ตรวจสอบได้ด้วยผงตะไบเหล็ก หรือเข็มทิศ

เส้นแรงแม่เหล็ก (Magnetic Line of Force) คือ เส้นที่แสดงทิศทางของแรงลัพธ์ที่แท่งแม่เหล็กทำต่อเข็มทิศหรือผงตะไบเหล็ก หรือเส้นที่แสดงทิศทางของสนามแม่เหล็กลัพธ์ที่จุดนั้นโดย เส้นแรงแม่เหล็กรอบ ๆ แท่งแม่เหล็ก จะมีลักษณะเป็นเส้นโค้ง 2 มิติ และพุ่งจากขั้วเหนือไปขั้วใต้ เส้นแรงแม่เหล็กไม่ตัดกัน บริเวณใดที่ไม่มีเส้นแรงแม่เหล็กผ่านบริเวณนั้นจะไม่มีสนามแม่เหล็ก และเรียกจุดนั้นว่า จุดสะเทิน (Neutural Point)
