Technologies for the application of Big Data in business: Data Warehouses 2.0.

Objective

Currently, there is a wide variety of programming languages that cater to the needs of Big data, data analytics, and data science. R is a free and open source programming language based on another programming language called S developed by AT&T; its main function is in data manipulation, calculations, and graphics.

APPLICATIONS

According to its creators and the developers who maintain the language, its main characteristics are:

  • Effective data storage and manipulation.
  • Calculation operators on indexed variables (arrays), mainly matrices.
  • A broad, coherent, and integrated collection of tools for data analysis.
  • Graphical capabilities for data analysis, running directly on the screen or printer
  • A well-developed, simple, and effective programming language

REGARDING THE REFERENCES OF ITS CREATORS, IT HAS THE FOLLOWING FEATURES:

Multiple dispatch: provides the ability to define function behavior through many combinations of arguments.

Dynamic type system: documentation, optimization, and dispatching types

Good performance, resembling statically compiled systems in C
