As a hotelier, how do I receive payments from a guest?

Payment Workflow

To accept payment from a customer, you need:

• An Internet merchant account
• A Payment gateway
• Alternative Payment methods (Apple Pay, Google Pay, …) (optional)

A customer makes a purchase from your check out page and submit their payment information.

This information is sent to the payment gateway.

Payment Workflow

The payment gateway encrypts the payment information.

The decision is sent back to the customer.

The payment gateway pushes it to payment processors and networks for authorisation where the payment is either accepted or rejected.

The gateway sends the transaction to the payment processor.

Money is transferred from the customer bank to the hotel bank.

Payment gateway

Payment gateway is a software application that PSP uses to process online purchases from the merchant web site. It acts as an interface between the merchant website and a psp (acquirer). A gateway can be used for many payment methods.

• Transfer: The gateway encrypts sensitive credit card details to ensure the information is passed securely between the customer, the merchant and the acquiring bank.
• Authorisation: The gateway validates your customer's credit card details, ensuring funds are available for you to get paid. The gateway tells you whether the charge has been approved or not by the cardholder’s bank.
