Session 9

American civil rights movement took place mainly during the 1950s and 1960s. It emerged as a response to the existing discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, and national origin. One example of racial discrimination would be the segregation of public facilities such as schools, restaurants, buses, and restrooms. The purpose of the civil rights movement was to enforce constitutional and legal rights for all, especially for black people residing in the United States.

What was Segregation of the 1960s?
