Biomolecules
biomolecule, also called biological molecule, any of numerous substances that are produced by cells and living organisms. Biomolecules have a wide range of sizes and structures and perform a vast array of functions. The four major types of biomolecules are carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and proteins.
Bioelements
Any chemical element that is found in the molecules and compounds that make up a living organism
secundary bioelements Other chemical elements are found in living things; however, they appear in smaller quantities. We refer to them as secondary bioelements. They are: calcium (Ca), sodium (Na), magnesium (Mg) and potassium (K). Lastly, trace elements are elements which are found in living things, but only in small amounts (0.1%).
Trace elements a chemical element present only in minute amounts in a particular sample or environment.
Organic biomolecules
a chemical compound found in living organisms. These include chemicals that are composed of mainly carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur and phosphorus. Biomolecules are the building blocks of life and perform important functions in living organisms.
