ABOUT CARTAYA

01.

The town of Cartaya is located in the southwest of the province of Huelva.It's 22 km from the Huelva Capital and 110 km from Sevilla.There are three population centres: Cartaya, El Rompido and Nuevo Portil. The latter two situated on the beachfront.

Cartaya has a continental mediterranean climate. The temperature is mild and does not became negative in the winter and it does not rain often. About 300 days of the year are sunny. In other words, there are 3527 hours of sun in the year, which is why Cartaya is referred to as La Costa de la Luz.

Cartaya has public sports facilities that promote the practice of atheletic activities such as boxing and football. One facility has a heated pool that is open year round. Additionally, the town has three private gyms.

The cultural center of the town is the key enclave to cultural activity in Cartaya. It hosts a music and dance school, a reading club and a library. It also celebrates the famous Autumn Theater cycle every year.There are several local restaurants in Cartaya with various types of cuisine.

The easier way to arrive in Cartaya is by bus.The bus trip lasts about 25 minutes, and the school is a 10 minutes walk from the bus stop.The price of a trip is about 2,40 euros per ticket.There is also the possibility of receiving a ride from a teacher at school.

• It is difficult ot found housing in Cartaya because there is a high demand and little to offer. However, if you are interested in living in town, contact the school and we will do everything in our power to find you a home.

• The best site to find housing in Huelva is through Idealista. Sometimes the proprietors do not respond to messages or the photos are different than what they offer.
• We recommend you to stay in a hostel or Airbnb for the first few days until you visit the homes.
