Basel - Switzerland (July 17 and 18 and August 7, 1566) "Above Basel, for two days in July and again on August 7, a battle took place between black spheres that appeared at dawn. Many of them became red and fiery, eventually burning up and disappearing", wrote Samuel Coccius, a student who recorded the strange events of August 7, 1566 in the city's gazette."
