She lived many years in France when she was a child to become bilingual.
She didn't go to school until she was eight years old.
She was the first woman to work as a scientist for General Electric Laboratory .
She was the first woman to earn a Ph.D. in physics from Cambridge University.

Katharine Burr Blodgett was lucky not to have been touched by sexism or even racism : - No one contradicted that she studied science. - People were surprised at her excellent grades. - She obtained scholarships. - She always worked with men.
How has her work changed the world ?
Katharine Burr Blodgett is known in history for her work on the chemistry of surfaces and in particular for her invention of "invisible" or non-reflecting glass. It was used for projectors, cameras, underwater periscopes and aircraft cameras.
